How AI is Transforming Application Management Speed and Efficiency

Artificial intelligence has captured the attention and imagination of the corporate world. We have seen Toys “R” Us launching an ad campaign that was originally generated using AI. We have seen tech vendors leveraging AI to auto-generate responses to support tickets. Of course AI is used for support and service chat bots to varying degrees of success. As the technology matures AI has the potential to unlock Incredible productivity gains for organizations across most industries which makes it an exciting and potentially revolutionary technology.

At Numecent, we live and breathe modernization of application management.

So, what have we seen in terms of advancements in our space using AI?

Automating Application Packaging

As we have covered in previous blog posts, we have done extensive work around successfully automating the packaging and deployment of Windows applications and application updates using our containers. We have introduced our customers to the possibility of using Robotic Process Automation (RPA) to extend coverage of the automation of IT workflows and processes. This can be useful as certain applications provided by vendors may not be packaged following industry standards and best practices. When your scripted automation workflows may not suit these non-standard applications, a low code or no code approach can work with RPAs.

Boost Application Performance with Machine Learning

Our cloud, native container management platform features an option to improve application launch performance. This feature enables the automation of our patented prefetch capabilities. Our Cloudpager service analyzes the launch of your applications, stores the pattern for that application launch in a prefetch that contains enough of the application to enable a fast launch and then that prefetch gets synced to your Cloudpager tenant.

When subsequent users receive the same application, the application is delivered with the prefetch which improves the launch performance for that application. Cloudpager goes further than just automating the capture of the prefetch. Cloudpager uses machine learning to refine the pattern of the prefetch overtime as your employees use the application more. Ensuring an optimal launch performance with considerable gains for your larger applications, in particular.

Local AI Knowledge Bases

While public generative AI services such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and CoPilot receive much of the attention, organizations on the bleeding edge of technology are moving to implement their own local AI instances. These local AI instances can use data sets unique to your organization without exposing that data to a public service. Think of it like an internal knowledge base but instead of searching for something in your knowledge base and ultimately becoming frustrated when you cannot find something – you can instead use a prompt similar to a service like ChatGPT and input a question using natural language with the AI doing the heavy lifting of weeding through all of the articles in your knowledge base and perhaps even aggregating data across multiple articles that are relevant to the question you asked.

Where this can come in handy in terms of application management is in the form of your packaging recipes, troubleshooting documentation, vendor installation guides etc. you could store this data in your data set and let the AI search through it and provide you the information you need, when you need it.

Conclusion

AI has applications across all industries and use cases. Application management is no different. In this article I covered the automation of application packaging and deployment, optimization of application performance using machine learning and generative AI with local AI for smart KBs.

If you have viewed AI with skepticism and worry due to the more destructive side of the technology, I hope this article gives you some hope of how it can be applied for positive change. The items covered in this article is also just the tip of the iceberg. We are excited to show you some of our upcoming features, so keep your eyes peeled on this blog.
